4 C h ris ty Crain's
eclectic, natural style
has evolved through life
experience, although
today, as the mother of
two young boys, it's as
much a matter of neces-
sity as style. Crain finds
inspiration for her style in
the colors of nature, such
as the oranges, golds and
browns of fall. "I recently
discovered sculptural
jewelry designed by
Gina Tackett. I'm eager
to explore her unique,
nature-inspired designs."
Crain has attended
several ACC Baltimore
shows and appreciates
how handmade objects
connect with the energy
of the artist.
► Joyce Scott, nation-
ally celebrated artist
and performer, and
known by many as the
Queen of Beadwork,
finds inspiration for her
colorful, eclectic, and
lively style in everyday
life. "Where else?" she
asks. The exuberant Scott
says she attempts to "live
graciously with a
big-mama body and
hopefully a heart and
humor to match." She
praises the variety of art
she sees at the ACC
Baltimore Show. As an
artist herself, she says it's
gratifying to see artists
who are empowered
and making a living from
their craft.
